Installing an Electric Life EL12-K Street Rod Power Window Kit in a 1959 Volvo. Page 5 |

After measuring the door to verify that we have room to install the kit, we check the condition of the components in the door. The glass channels and felt runs are checked and repaired. The channel on the drivers door was broken off of it's mount and needed to be rewelded. The felt runs in the glass channels in the passenger door needed to be glued back in place. It's not too surprising that the doors need a little work after 40 years. With all of our repair done and windows moving freely in their channels, we remove the window trim ring and vent glass. The mounting bolts for the forward glass channel are removed and the old regulator cable is unscrewed from the glass. The glass is pulled up and tilted out of the door.
